By the by, navigating FedEx’s site may not be quite as easy as this ad lets on.

FEDEX1

Step One: For whatever reason, you’ve got to enter your continent so the FedEx server can locate you. Despite the fact that Web sites have had the ability to pinpoint your location to within about 20 miles ever since Web sites existed, FedEx plays dumb and acts like you’re just as likely to be in Australia as Zimbabwe. Not a big deal though, right? After all, what’s one extra click here and there in the big scheme of things…

FEDEX2

Step Two: NO! Now you need the country? What’s more bizarre is that FedEx is nice enough to ask Canadians what language they’re speaking, but not Americans. Spanish speakers are pretty much out of luck at this point. They can either (A) learn English really fast; (B) wade through the English-language site and make educated guesses as to what’s going on, (C) pretend they live in Mexico and have all their packages misrouted, or (D) go to UPS.com.

FEDEX3

Step Three: More like strike three. After all that — manually selecting my continent, my country, my language, etc., the first thing I’m greeted with is a Canadian flag? It’s not clear who made the decision to put that thing there, but it was probably an MBA.
