NEW YORK (AP) — Leaders at the U.S. Olympic Committee tell The Associated Press a bid to bring the Winter Games to America could be part of efforts to repair the federation’s international standing.

The USOC has been quiet about future bids since Chicago finished fourth in the running to host the 2016 Summer Games that were awarded to Rio de Janeiro.

In an interview at AP headquarters Tuesday, USOC chairman Larry Probst and its new CEO, Scott Blackmun, said they are exploring all options that would improve the relationship with the International Olympic Committee, including backing a bid for the 2022 Winter Olympics.

Denver and Lake Tahoe, Calif., are two cities that have expressed interest in hosting Winter Games, which aren’t as popular with bid cities as Summer Games.
