One of Democratic Senate candidate Martha Coakley’s staffers may have assaulted John McCormack of the Weekly Standard, according to an item on the Weekly Standard‘s site and Boston.com. According to the latter:

Coakley said she is not “privy” to the facts surrounding the incident involving reporter John McCormack last night, who wrote about the episode outside the Sonoma restaurant in Washington, D.C. in an online dispatch titled: “We Report, We Get Pushed.” The Wall Street Journal reported the Coakley fund-raiser at the Sonoma restaurant in Washington, D.C. was put on by health care industry lobbyists.

“I do know that the Scott Brown stalkers who have followed me around and the people at that press conference … were incredibly aggressive about trying to get in my face,” Coakley said. “I didn’t see what happened so I can’t say.”

Michael Meehan who founded Blue Line Strategic Communications and is currently working with the Coakley campaign to “improve messaging,” looks to be the person who “shoved” McCormack into a metal railing outside of a Coakley fundraiser in Washington, D.C. McCormack compared pictures from the incident with pictures of Meehan from his public social networking accounts.

And according to POLITICO

Michael Meehan, the aide to Democrat Martha Coakley who tangled with a Weekly Standard reporter, has been nominated to serve on the Broadcasting Board of Governors.
