During C-SPAN’s Newsmakers on January 24, National Republican Senatorial Committee Chair Senator John Cornyn (R-TX) said he won’t vote to reconfirm Fed Chair Ben Bernanke. Cornyn has called for a “fresh start” at the Fed and argues that Bernanke should have seen the economic collapse coming, a sentiment shared by Nobel prize-winning economist (and, some hope, Bernanke replacement) Paul Krugman.
Also on the broadcast, Cornyn spoke of how the GOP base has been energized after the special election in Massachusetts.
“We already had some great recruits. But I have to tell you there are more coming in the days ahead,” he said. “It’s energized a lot of people and given them hope that they can take their country back.”
