MSNBC spoke with anchor David Shuster earlier today regarding his incendiary comments after the arrest of conservative filmmaker James O’Keefe in Sen. Mary Landrieu’s office building in Louisiana, a spokesperson for the network said.

“@JamesOKeefeIII a) you are not a journalist b) the truth is you intended to tap her phones c) it’s a felony d) you will go to prison,” Shuster tweeted.

Shuster’s comments are controversial not just because of their personal nature, but also because O’Keefe has not been charged with attempting to tap any phones, but rather ‘interfering’ with them and unlawfully entering a federal building.

“The comments were inappropriate,” an MSNBC spokesperson admitted to Politico. “We have talked to David about them.”

That evidently wasn’t enough for Andrew Breitbart, whose ‘Big Government’ site published O’Keefe’s controversial videos last year that appeared to expose criminal activity on the part of ACORN, a community-based activist group.
