Penn State to proceed with climate scientist investigation

STATE COLLEGE, Pa. — Penn State University says it will proceed with an investigation into a leading climate scientist after an internal inquiry into alleged research misconduct stemming from leaked e-mails at the center of a controversy over global warming.

A university committee has been looking into e-mails pertaining to professor Michael Mann or his work since late November, when computer hackers obtained messages between scientists from a British research center. Mann’s work has long criticized by skeptics of man-made global warming theories.
