one may argue whether there should be federal funding of the arts at all, but as long as there is, i don’t see (besides sending some monies outside of the u.s.) any particular problem with the way this funding was distributed. there is a fairly wide range, even in this short list, of organizations who work to preserve and promote american culture in its many forms. seems like that’s a better return for our money than buying superbowl air time to advertise the census !
