The GOP has never in American history been interested in health care reform because there is no profit in it. They've consistently taken rear-guard actions to prevent reforms and protect their corporate benefactors. For 60 years they succeeded in derailing reform through their fearful cry of "socialized medicine". When in power, they never once introduced health care legislation to improve coverage and reduce costs for America's middle and lower working classes. And, what has America got in return for their obstruction? The most expensive system in the world by far with the worst coverage of any western democracy. Obama is right to be skeptical and challenge the GOP lawmakers on their cynicism. They deserve the ridicule that has been aimed their way because they can not be trusted to earnestly work to reform a health care system which needlessly claims tens of thousands of lives each year, leads many more families into bankruptcy, and is badly hurting small businesses due to skyrocketing costs.

Obama inherited a $1.2T annual structural deficit from Bush due to 2 wars, a massive tax cut for the wealthy, a Medicare benefit for the pharmaceutical industry, and the worst employment situation the country has faced in 80 years. He entered office in an economic crisis and his stimulus plan stabilized the bottom of a very vicious business cycle and keep the economy from tipping into a deep depression. The Bush presidency culminated 30+ years of disastrous neo-con economic policies which have led our economy to ruination through supply-side/trickle down tax cuts, deregulation, economic bubbles, $40T of private debt creation, and destruction of our manufacturing/industrial base through the mantra of free trade. Obama is correct to pursue stimulative fiscal policies to reignite the private sector because private demand is so weak that its incapable on its own of creating adequate business investment which would lead to job creation and higher consumer demand. Federal deficits are the least of our economic worries right now while the economy is in such a depressed state. If we're not careful, we'll see a repeat of 1937 when the deficit hawks won the day by cutting federal spending and plunged an economy experiencing a weak recovery back into depression.

As long as Obama blames others he can hide behind the fact he Has No Answers and is too inexperienced to run a country. I can see Obama is trying to do something but he has failed on everything he has tried. We deserve better than this. He excepted the "Pay Scale" and nothing that has to do with running this country should be above his "Pay Scale". We are spending MILLIONS and MILLIONS for Obama to appear on TV and shoot his flippy flappy mouth off in what appears to be daily. When does he start putting his nose to the grindstone in stead of his face on our TV's? He took this job saying he could fix Americas problems. You can't fix anything when you can't take accountability for your mistakes.
Obama stop whining and get to work or step down!

PROVIDENCE, SCOTT BROWN & NATIONAL RENEWAL

Was the death of Ted Kennedy and the historic victory of Scott Brown an accident of history? Or was it divinely ordained and directed according to a masterplan for the painful and difficult renewal of America?

Google my name ApolloSpeaks (one word) and read my piece on Townhall showing evidence of Providential Design in Brown's election; and in yesterday, February 4th, when he unexpectedly ahead of schedule began his career in the US Senate.

I see what you mean now. Once broken down into smaller bills, some common ground could be found on some parts.

My thought still is that the political climate is such that conservative politicians will demand an increasingly lighter gov't 'hand' in order to maintain the current political message. I think we've seen some of these same politicians supporting a heavy handed approach in the past on other issues when it was politically advantageous.

They can tinker with policies all day long but this will still be about winning in 2010.

GOP is a bigger fraud, since they back stab their own base. GOP had 11 years of majority in congress and 8 years of presidency and all we got were fraudulent wars and deceit.

Balanced Budget Amendment? NO!

Federal Reserve and Banking Transparency? No!

Term Limits? No!

Cut Back Empire? No!

please re-read my comment. I did not say the Republicans would support everything. So no the issue are the policies. Some of them are unacceptable to Republicans.

You beclown yourself with such consistency.

With health care legislation stalled, Republicans are touting their own remedies, including allowing Americans to buy health coverage across state lines. Currently, consumers can buy policies only from insurers licensed by the states in which they live.

http://www.kaiserhealthnews.org/Stories/2009/November/06/health-insurance-across-state-lines.aspx

Democrats have traditionally opposed this and also removing anti-trust exemptions for health insurers (but Pelosi is now for it after being against it) because it ends up foiling state regulations. You see, States run by Democrats would have fewer powers to regulate the choices you make.

ROTFLMAO-

President of the Harvard Law Review is a mediocre attorney?

The Harvard Law Review is run by students. Not "attorneys".

Thank you for illustrating my point that Obama's mind slave supporters are naive.

As for "policies that might work" with the precondition "without the policies that brought us to this place".

How about getting the banking system into the business of capitalizing businesses instead of playing games with derivatives? Oh - but Obama's "A Team" is staffed by the Goldman Sachs revolving door - the firm that gives money to Democrat politicians on a ratio of 5:1 and has been in the top 5 corporate donors for each of the last 10 years? (the sad and sorry tale is at OpenSecrets.org).

That and get government out of the mortgage bubble business - the one that Barney Frank has been overseeing since 2006.

Oh - but that was all tried before. Back in the 80s. Your condition was "NOT" ever tried before.

Here is something that has never been tried - REDUCE THE SIZE OF GOVERNMENT.

Actually reduce it. Fewer people. Fewer intrusions. Fewer laws. Fewer dollars consumed.

Never. Been. Tried.

Question: If your car was headed off a cliff, would you want to obstruct it or do nothing?

The deficit spending of this administration is reckless in the extreme and threatens the very future of our nation. So do I want to obstruct Obama/Reid/Pelosi. You bet I do!
