Well said, is she even a Republican? What Republican would tax a companies and then evenly spread the proceeds to every man, woman, and child. Something just doesn't ring true with this one. Oh and she basically just recylced the money since the companies increased their gas prices to make up for the tax.

Ron Paul has forgotten more about the Constitution than Palin, Mitt, Huckabee have ever known about it. The same with economics. If the GOP doesn't show respect for constitutional conservatives next election I'm going to vote 3rd party again. Because I'd rather throw away my vote than throw away my principles.

Either Pallin or Romney would be a big improvement over Hussein. The TP is made up of true Americans that love this country and what it stands for. You ignore them at your own peril. Just look at VA, NJ & MA.

'to have a portion of their revenue'. I see, that's not a tax at all, or in this case, not a windfall profits tax at all. My guess is that the oil companies would call it a tax.

Seattle Times- Over the opposition of oil companies, Republican Gov. Sarah Palin and Alaska's Legislature last year approved a major increase in taxes on the oil industry — a step that has generated stunning new wealth for the state as oil prices soared. "Clearly, from the investor standpoint, Alaska has become a less attractive place to invest exploration and production dollars," said Marilyn Crockett, executive director of the Alaska Oil and Gas Association.

Thanks you for your well considered post of substance, des.

Paul's economic prowess far exceeds beyond anything Mitt could even hope to posess. He sits on the Committee on Financial Services, Subcommittee on Domestic Monetary Policy and Technology, Subcommittee on International Monetary Policy and Trade, and the Joint Economic Committee. He has authored six books on Austrian economics and countless of other articles and editorials.

I suppose you'll attempt to render turning around the olympics, throwing massive amounts of capital at dying businesses and flipping them, and getting Mass. out of a $3 bill deficit as a sign of economic genious, right des? While it's clear that Romney is a slick businessman, there is still a major difference between simply being a player in the market economy and having a firm grasp of the workings of it. Therein lies the basis of why Ron has the economic knowledge and vision I spoke of. Mitt simply doesn't have the plan or the desire to do what is necessary to get us out of the abyss we are in/will be deeper in come 2012. We aren't talking getting our of relatively miniscule budget shortfalls during a period of economic boom. Mitt is not the cure.

Is that even English? If you think Bush is the worst President in our lifetime (assuming that's what you were trying to say), you must have been born after 1980.

Actually, that's not correct. They don't tax the oil companies, they reach an agreement to let the oil companies have the resources and land in exchange for a portion of their revenue. Palin renegotiated the agreement based on the higher profits the oil companies were enjoying than when the earlier agreement had been reached. The reason no Governor had renegotiated until her is the vast sums of money that get spread around by the companies in an attempt to keep their costs down. That's how Palin got the reputation for fighting against corruption.

Palin progressively raised taxes on oil companies, redistributed their wealth by mailing checks out to Alaskans, supported TARP and quit the job she was elected for to sell herself for profit. Little details that seem to be forgotten by her faithful followers.
