Hard to imagine anyone singling out a person "of questionable size" (is that fair?) and not first checking if he fit in the seat - with the armrest down. I generally have no sympathy for fat people being booted off a plane. It's not fair when somebody spills over onto you when you're already packed in like a sardine. But if the person can comfortably get both arm rests down, it really shouldn't be an issue. They must have gotten a complaint from whoever was sitting next to him. Getting the arms down and belting up is the least of your problems. its holding your knees up in your chest while holding your hands on your lap and ducking your head down for 2 + hours that's hard to do. I don't know of many adult men that fit in those seats comfortably without at least being crammed shoulder to shoulder. Most of South West's airliners are rickety little sweat boxes.
