I think the shallow, astroturf nature of the ‘Coffee’ party is undeniable. They are trying to marginalize the Tea Party movement’s influence using overt Alinsky tactics. Ms. Park’s tweets referring to American citizens as “Tea Baggers” is a perfect example. The ‘Coffee Party’ name itself makes it rather obvious that some on the left feel threatened by the Tea Party movement’s momentum.

I believe it has caused confusion for some that the Tea Party movement took its name from the event in our history. It has lent itself to talk of forming a third major political party, but that was not my understanding of the motivations when the movement started last year. The name refers to an act of rebellion against tyrannical control by a tone-deaf government. Similarly, our current federal government is inspiring today’s rebellion.

I think there might be some small merit to your comments as far as short-lived “populist” movements. However, as long as our current congress and Dear Reader continue their force-feeding of this unpopular agenda, taking over the private sector with unrestrained government control, their will be energy fed to voices of objection.
In all honesty, I HOPE the movement is short-lived. After the November mid-terms I hope there is such a convincing turnover in congress that we don’t have to be as vocal (and active) to protest a contemptible federal government.

the ‘lemonade’ comedy thing isn’t working out here. Neither did your earlier coffee and tea remarks.
Why don’t you fall back on some of your ‘A’ material, like that funny anecdote when you joked about having cancer? Or that bit about hoping Dick Cheney dies? Do you have any more funny jokes where you just make baseless insults about people with conservative views?

How about neither? This country is full of “populist” movements that fail rather quickly and the Tea Party is no different. This whole coffee thing was in last weekend’s WaPo and it was pretty stale when they ran the story.
