Nevada’s Ashjian denies Harry Reid is behind his campaign

The Daily Caller’s Alex Pappas digs deep into the story on Nevada Senate candidate Scott Ashjian. Here’s a snippet of what we’ll be publishing later today:

I was able to track down Jon Scott Ashjian, the Tea Party candidate for Senate in Nevada, and ask him about the accusations by Republicans that his third-party candidacy is really a diabolical maneuver to split the conservative vote and help Democratic Sen. Harry Reid win re-election.

“There is absolutely no truth to the rumor that Harry Reid is behind my campaign,” Ashiian told me by phone. “I’ve never met Harry Reid, don’t support Harry Reid, I run the opposite of Harry Reid.”

A number of Tea Party activists in Nevada claim to have never heard of Ashjian before he announced his candidacy.
