Breitbart’s Big sites have the best method for fixing this. You sign up with 3rd party software that allows you to list your beliefs and party affiliation (if any). Then you have a score that is based on the number of positive or negative responses to your comments. So a Liberal troll would be given away on a site like this by having a negative rating. The only downside is that much of that software is used on Liberal sites as well, so you still have some people with positive ratings despite being raving lunatics. But it’s still a much better method than what we have here.

Is it the word “values”? Would you have preferred “principles”? “ideas”?

The point is: unless you are in fact an Anarchist – and you obviously are not – you have to decide the size and quality of government you think is best, and cast your vote accordingly. In ’94, those of us subscribing to “he who governs least, governs best” had an easy choice – GOP. It’s too bad the Clinton smear machine de-railed the career of the architect ’94 (Gingrich) over a book deal technicality. Then 2000 might have taken a completely different turn ….

Yep, the Bush and D. Hastert era big-gov GOP certainly confused the issue – and needs to be solidly repudiated for its big-gov missteps by today’s GOP as a demonstration of seriousness.

Hoping November brings principled small-gov candidates to vote FOR, instead of the usual milquetoast choice between the lesser of evils. The small-gov candidates may be (R), or (T), or (I) – definitely not (D) – depending on the district. It will be imperative for (R) + (T) + (I) > (D) in 2011. Then we can restore sanity and argue over the small stuff.

As to your 1st point, the problem as I see it today is that even with tax cuts,which I would say most everyone would agree with, the libs give a tax cut as Obama claims we should “thank him” for, is wiped out with new tax hikes and new expensive programs so as to become meaningless. the gov gets bigger and we diminish. And unfortunately, the republicans under bush grew the government as well and created the “medicare drug part d entitlement” with help from dems of course. this is why I am skeptical of republicans at this point. I will see what november looks like.

I will make a point on this one: Isn’t this what Obama and the dems are trying to do, “Impose their liberal so-called values on us”? Yet you like to have republicans “Impose their conservative values on us”? Is this not the definition of tyranny? You are more like the left than you realize!

When did I say that? He has a superior knowledge of plumbing and neither of us has a superiority complex. When I want an expert plumber I call him. When I want political philosophy I don’t bother him because he’s busy. If the price was right he might offer his random thoughts though, business is business.

Strange times we live in.

The conservative-indepedent coalition (and I include Ron Paul devotees in it of course) will collectively need thick skins and focused minds to make sure the Progressives are no longer running the House in 2011.

The “wild west” nature of the Internet certainly makes it difficult to keep identities and sympathies straight. The subversive and intentionally deceiving tactics often practiced by Lefties make it even more difficult. The challenge is to push back effectively against these people without letting it back fire. It won’t be easy. I’ve decided calling them out where they haunt the republic is necessary. Maybe because I’m a crotchety middle aged guy who’s had enough and has absorbed a lot of Kinks lyrics (see “People In Gray”, album = “Muswell Hillbillies” for relevance here.)

@Hex is welcome to accept my invitation to reply objectively, to my three point assertion, re: when the GOP has governed conservatively, and we can continue the conservation without the suspicion.

The good news is I think we (the conservative-indpendent coalition) have the wind at our backs, and the situation will improve in 2011. When I started by blog project in Decmeber I didn’t project reaching this point of optimism so soon.

Unfortunately, I suspect that the petty differences will keep us fighting enough to let the Dems hang in, encouraging them to stay to the Left where their money and support is mostly coming from.
