Republican National Committee chairman Michael Steele has fired the committee’s finance director, RNC spokesman Doug Heye confirmed to The Daily Caller.

Rob Bickhart oversaw the committee’s finances during several controversies, including the highly-publicized story of the committee spending nearly $2,000 on donors at bondage-themed nightclub in Hollywood. According to POLITICO, Mary Heitman, former Republican Governors Association finance director, will take over for Bickhart.

The memo reads:

As you may of heard, the Chairman has asked for the resignation of Rob Bickhart and Debbie LeHardy from their positions in the Finance department. While we appreciate their service to the RNC and wish them well in future endeavors, the Chairman felt it was important to restructure the department in order to continue to improve on our strong fundraising numbers.

Mary Heitman will be joining the RNC team as our new Finance Director. Having served in both the political field and the private sector, Mary has a wealth of experience in finance and will be a tremendous asset to the RNC. Mary is joining us from Sagac Public Affairs and has formerly served as the Finance Director of the Republican Governors Association and Deputy Finance Director of the RNC under Chairman Haley Barbour.

We are well positioned for victory this fall and this addition to the team will only help us to provide the necessary resources to defeat Democrats across the country.

I know that each of you will give Mary a warm welcome to the team.
