University of Arizona professor Sandra Soto opted to deliver a politically charged commencement address to the College of Social and Behavioral Sciences this week, claiming that “The [reason that the] new Arizona law … has instigated a boycott is because to a whole lot of people, myself included, it appears to not only invite but require the police to engage in racial profiling.” The apparent mischaracterization of the law drew intense booing from audience members who, like most of the country, appeared to support the law.
