McChrystal out, Petraeus in, MoveOn.org scrambling

Our own Jon Ward reports:

President Obama relieved Gen. Stanley McChrystal of his command of the war in Afghanistan Wednesday because of insubordinate remarks by him and his aides in a Rolling Stone article published earlier this week.

“I accepted General Stanley McChrstal’s resignation,” Obama said to reporters in the Rose Garden…

The president is replacing McChrystal with Gen. David Petraeus.

That’s right, this Gen. David Petraeus:

Oddly enough, MoveOn.org still had this Sept. 2007 ad up as of June 18, according to their Google cache. But if you go to http://pol.moveon.org/petraeus.html now, it’s gone. They kept it there for almost 3 years before taking it down all of a sudden.

Wonder why?

P.S. HuffPo says, “FLASHBACK: Obama Declined To Vote On Resolution Condemning MoveOn For Petraeus Ad”

p.s. “Mr. Obama issued a statement calling the resolution, put forward by Senator John Cornyn, Republican of Texas, “a stunt.” Mr. Obama said, “By not casting a vote, I registered my protest against these empty politics.”

      That’s because he’s a coward.

(Just in case my previous comment doesn’t make it out of moderation).

i’m glad you want our government to be in the business of calling out websites. i thought you guys wanted less government in our lives. i guess that’s just when it’s convenient for you.

Moveon.org is not a website: it’s the little man behind the democratic party curtain. Are you suggesting we shouldnt pay attention to the little George Soros behind the curtain propping up the great and powerful Ozbama?

Oh please. He didn’t have to write it, but with the opportunity in his lap to stand up for the general that he seems to need very badly now, he pussed. And that’s because he’s a coward. At least Hillary had the balls to vote against the thing, ungrateful, opportunistic harpy that she is. But Obama is intimidated by his own military. He is an ivory tower academic who has no idea what he’s doing. Just words. He doesn’t understand action or men that choose it. He’s afraid of them and doesn’t trust them. His Afghan policy is in shambles and just had to dismiss the only member of the military who voted for him for something close to insubordination. This isn’t a classroom, so he’s completely lost.

      His protest against empty politics?

Isn’t this the same man who convened the “beer summit”?

Obama. If he didn’t have double standards he’d have no standards at all.

Oh yeah. And remember when the Democrats wrote a letter to Clear Channel over something Rush Limbaugh said (that was actually true)? Obama signed the hell out of that letter.

Let me be clear. He’s a partisan coward who now owes someone he refused to defend against a very nasty charge when he had the chance.

I forgot that Obama punted on that vote. He really does suck at this.

  • homebiscuit

Well, obviously, they’ve moved on. Duh.

  • hogwild

MoveOn is without morals? At least they are consistent…
