A blue-ribbon panel investigating the financial crisis will put Goldman Sachs executives on the hot seat next week, along with officials from American International Group Inc., the big insurance conglomerate.

The Financial Crisis Inquiry Commission will focus on the role of derivatives in the financial crisis, particularly the relationship between Goldman and AIG.

Notable Goldman Sachs witnesses at the two-day hearing on Wednesday and Thursday include Gary Cohn, Goldman’s president and chief operating officer; Craig Broderick, managing director and head of risk; managing director David Lehman; and David Viniar, executive vice president and chief financial officer.

AIG witnesses will include former CEO Martin Sullivan; former financial products chief Joseph Cassano; Robert Lewis, the chief risk officer; and former executives Stephen Bensinger and Elias Habayeb.
