Lohan gets a (jail)break

Font Size:

Despite the sneer on Lindsay Lohan’s face in her police mug shot taken Tuesday morning — after she was remanded into custody to begin her jail term — the troubled actress should have expressed more of an emotion of relief.

Rather than the 90-day sentence handed down by Judge Marsha Revel, a Los Angeles County Sheriff’s Department booking document revealed Lohan is expected to be released from the women’s jail in Lynwood, Calif., on Aug. 2, assuming she maintains good behavior.

The 14-day sentence has more to do with the overcrowded situation at the jail than celebrity treatment for the actress.

According to a spokesman for the sheriff’s department, inmates serving time for offenses similar to Lohan’s — probation violation for a DUI conviction — generally serve only about 25 percent of their original sentence.
