MICHAEL HIRSH, NEWSWEEK: so many of you still seem tied down to your old ideological moorings. on the early evidence obama is not similarly tied down on any level, whether diplomatically or economically (or politically: note his big-tent approach to joe lieberman). a post-ideological presidency — what a novelty, and what a relief! but this new obamian world view, i fear, also puts many of you who are part of this group in danger of imminent irrelevance. cheers, mike hirsh

They think because Michael Barone loves his country and does not want to see it destroyed by the lefties, therefore he must be insane.
One Michael Barone is worth all 400 of the losers on the Journolist. He was doing the objective reporting for 20-30 years that so-called journalists weren’t interested in doing; now he’s posting opinion pieces because clearly he is worried about the direction the country is going.
I submitted the following to the comments section at the Adam Sewrer link above in the Daily Call post. My bet is it won’t be approved for publication. Any takers that it will?
So, you screwed the country over by using your position as journalist and reporter to distribute “non-official campaign” propaganda for the candidate of your choosing. What’s worse is your choice was based upon how you’d feel upon his election. Well, you got to live your “historical election.” You got to cry your tears of joy and declare yourself “not a racist.” Most satisfying, you got to watch the old black women and men cry tears of joy as you secretly felt like a benevolent god who gave that gift of joy to them through your undercover work on their new president’s “non-official campaign.”
Now, almost two years later, how’s that change working out for you? What’s it like, reporting on “the most transparent administration ever,” the administration of the president you selected for the country? Does he keep his door open, phone ringer on, and himself available for you, as a reporter? Has he healed and united the nation as you and he promised he would? Has he “restored” and “repaired” America’s reputation and standing with the other nations of the world? Has he created the “green” jobs that would put the country to work and save the planet? Did he close GITMO? Bring home all the troops that were stationed in Iraq and Afghanistan? Has he demonstrated his superior response and sense of urgency in situations of catastrophy and tragedy?
No, none of those promises were kept. But he makes you feel good.
You and your co-conspirators (that’s what you are, you know, conspirators) sicken me. You deemed yourselves the wiser and therefore most capable of choosing not only for yourselves, but also more capable to choose for the other 300,000,000 of us than we are for ourselves. Over 200 years of freedom and choice, and then you came along. You will never be forgiven for the travesty you hoisted upon this nation, not by me, that I can promise you.
You can be sure, however, that I’m not the only one who will hate you until the last breath leaves my body.
I was sitting in McDonalds today listening to a bunch of 20 something progressives talking about “eliminating” conservatives. It made me think about something my late Korean war vet father said over dinner one night-
“Communists only play nice when they lack the power to kill or imprison their enemies. Once they aquire that power, no dissenter is safe from their wrath”. A lot of people called my father over the top,it could never happen here was the standard retort to his arguments. Listening to the kids in McDonalds today makes me wonder.
Your Dad was right. I know many people from former USSR satellite nations and Russia as well, and they all see the signs. A sight born of experience.
