Obama administration asks allies to press charges against WikiLeaks founder

The Obama administration is pressing Britain, Germany, Australia, and other allied Western governments to consider opening criminal investigations of WikiLeaks founder Julian Assange and to severely limit his nomadic travels across international borders, American officials say.

Officials tell The Daily Beast that the U.S. effort reflects a growing belief that WikiLeaks and organizations like it threaten grave damage to American national security, as well as a growing suspicion in Washington that Assange has damaged his own standing with foreign governments and organizations that might otherwise be sympathetic to his anti-censorship cause.

American officials confirmed last month that the Justice Department was weighing a range of criminal charges against Assange and others as a result of the massive leaking of classified U.S. military reports from the war in Afghanistan, including potential violations of the Espionage Act by Bradley Manning, the Army intelligence analyst in Iraq accused of providing the documents to WikiLeaks.

If there is any such thing as a “high-value target,” Julian Assange is one.

The long arm of the law my ass. This is all talk, with no substance. The guy almost certainly lives in Iceland. Iceland will not under any circumstances lock him up, or even help the US capture him. The Icelandic government basically think what he is doing is ok; furthermore, they are already taking major steps to basically make any form of speech there legal and protected. That means they are trying to remove slander/libel laws, absolute protection for media’s sources, etc, etc.

The chances of Iceland helping in the slightest, let alone actually arresting him, are slim to none. Plus the guy is a ghost anyways. He has no cell phone, no permanent home, and only a handful of people communicate with him on a regular basis. Yes he has done phone interviews, but those have proven to take months to set up, and involves talking to a guy, who knows a guy, who knows a guy, who knows a guy.

Also Wikileaks will not be shut down if he’s captured. If you believe it would be you are truly stupid.

The only “threat” that Julian assange poses is to the elites in DC that love to feed the gullible American public the lies and bulls**t so they can get support for their wars of domination and fill pockets at the same time.

Why does Julian Assange look like he should be Legolas’ aide-de-camp?

“The Obama administration asks allied governments to prosecute Julian Assange…”

…Because he is busy suing one of our own sovereign states for trying to enforce border security because he WON’T.
