Dallas wedding venue’s closing leaves couples in the lurch

Last week, word spread that a sought-after wedding venue at the Trammell Crow Center in the heart of downtown Dallas’ Arts District had abruptly closed its doors, leaving nearly two dozen couples out thousands of dollars and without a place to say “I do.”

The owners of the Arts District Banquet Facility shut it down after an Aug. 22 reception.

They had tried to keep the business afloat by shuttering their adjoining Asian fusion restaurant, Aija, when they filed for bankruptcy and began reorganizing in mid-July.

Court records show that 21 couples had paid more than $82,000 in deposits for weddings and receptions through June that will now have to be relocated.
