A Northfield woman faces charges after police say she stabbed another man in the head several times with a fork.

Michelle Lee Walgenbach, 44, was charged with felony second degree assault with a dangerous weapon, misdemeanor domestic assault and misdemeanor fifth degree assault, according to a criminal complaint issued Monday by the Rice County Attorney’s office. If convicted, she could face a maximum of seven years in prison, 180 days in jail and as much as $16,000 in fines.

According to the complaint, Northfield police were dispatched last Wednesday to a local motel where Walgenbach and the victim were living. Police spoke with the motel owner and the victim, who was bleeding from three sets of puncture wounds on the left side and top of his head, the complaint said.
