John Burton, chairman of the California Democratic Party, lashed out against both Republicans and the Obama administration Tuesday, likening a compromise with the GOP on tax cuts to cutting deals with “terrorists.”

“Just as we do not negotiate with international terrorists,” Burton wrote in an e-mail to the California Democratic Party, “we must stand up to the political terrorism of the Republicans in the United States Senate.”

Escalating the rhetoric against the compromise, Burton went on to personally attack Republicans.

“The American people have to know what kind of people these Republicans are,” he wrote. “They may never find out if the Republicans can force their view point on the Administration, splitting the Democratic Party.

The e-mail finishes by lauding Speaker of the House Nancy Pelosi and Senate Majority Leader Harry Reid, calling on readers to call them and “thank them for speaking out against this issue and having the Democratic Party stand for something.”
