Gentry Collins makes RNC chairman bid official

Former Iowa Republican Gentry Collins announced today he was seeking the chairmanship of the Republican National Committee.

Collins, who stepped down as RNC political director last month, signaled his interest in seeking the post after resigning and writing a pointed critique of the RNC’s financial footing under Chairman Michael Steele.

Steele, who has faced sharp criticism for his financial management, was scheduled to hold a conference call with RNC members tonight.
