Obama still wrestling with gay marriage question

WASHINGTON (AP) — President Barack Obama says he is still wrestling with whether gay couples should have the right to marry, now that a new law will allow them to serve openly in combat.

The question came just hours after he signed landmark legislation repealing the ban on gays serving openly in the military. The law ends the 17-year-old “don’t ask, don’t tell” policy that forced gays to hide their sexual orientation or face dismissal.

Obama says his feelings on the gay marriage issue continue to evolve but he still believes in allowing strong civil unions that provide certain protections and legal rights that married couples have.

We do not want government in control of marriage. We need to start treating each other as humans. Government free marriage is the pathway to equality. Government should have no control over religion or marriage. Leave marriage to the religions or to the people to freely contract with one another.

Obama is not evolving. He is just blowing in the wind. He doesn’t really have a core set of beliefs. That said, I believe the government should have nothing to do with deciding who can or cannot marry. It should be decided by religious institutions. If you can find a place of worship that believes in gay marriage, you should go there and be married and be blessed. If a religious institution does not believe in gay marriage, they should be allowed not to marry same sex couples. Why is the government involved at all? Freedom to choose, freedom to be who you are if it doesn’t hurt anyone else. I can’t for the life of me understand how two same sex people who are in love and want to make a commitment to each other affects or hurts my marriage. Life is short. Live and let live.

Obama is beginning to realize as everyone else should, that our country is founded on equal rights for all. His ratings are up to 56%. It’s obvious heterosexuals are ruining the sanctity of marriage. Time for homosexuals to show them how to do it right.

For all who said Obama’s administration was doomed, what say you now?

So if he was a Conservative, you’d call him a homphobe for being against gay marriage. Because he’s a Liberal, you’re willing to completely deny your deepest-held beliefs.

      Wow are you spineless.

      • scorpioman

Obama always said he wanted to give gay partners equal rights. I knew he preferred civil unions when I voted for him. Do you think I would vote for a homophobe? Ridiculous. I never heard a republican president give gays any consideration at all.

Some homosexuals don’t care to be married but as Obama said, some gays want to be married. Homophobia is the only thing that keeps them from having that right.

Obama’s on the fence about gay marriage, meaning he hasn’t said no to it yet. If he were a conservative I would applaud him for fighting for rights of individuals who need them.

I’ve supported Meghan McCain for her stance on gay rights. Republicans who comment here hate her for speaking out. It’s a shame her father is such a disappointment. I couldn’t be happier that he lost in 08. He didn’t deserve to win because he is a homophobe.

Scorpio you really have burning passion for homosexuality that you wish to force the rest of us into. Most people don’t think with their hormones like you do so back off.

      • scorpioman

Since when did demanding equal rights turn into forcing? When you bend over Mr. Brilliant. Take this scud and shove it. We don’t care what you think anymore.

        • b1jetmech

There’s nothing “equal” to your sexual preference.

The homo’s stole victimhood from the civil rights movement to gain political favor. Never-the-less scorpio and it’s likes have yet to answer coherently of what makes a person homosexual and is it normal. Something that science should be able to identify right away can’t do so.

Instead we get the liberal response of homophobe, bigot, blah, blah…

BTW scorp, SCUD means “Sure Can Use Directions”…your definitely lost in life.

          • scorpioman

We grow into our sexuality as naturally as you do and you can’t prove we don’t. It’s pitiful you can’t see that. Because it means you assume at any given moment it would be possible for you to be gay and you know as well as I do you couldn’t get it up with a man unless you are gay. Nobody can completely change their sexuality. Some are on one side, some are on the other. Some people are all over and in between. I think straight sex is disgusting but I’m not judging you for doing it and I’m not pushing for legislation that keeps you from having the same rights as everyone else.

Why are you doing that? Do you think gays don’t deserve to be happy? I’m not questioning if you were born straight. It shouldn’t even matter.

Wolf Blitzer, Situation Room. Probably not fair and balanced but where there’s smoke there’s fire. Obama has scored a lot lately.

And to think how stupid the gay community still is, defending Obama at every expense…
    Aha-hahahahahahaa…

Comrade Obozo is “continuing to evolve” about a lot of things, including CONTROLLING THE INTERNET and later, controlling political talk radio. This Marxist Messiah must think if he controls the MEDIA, he can control EVERYTHING. Hugo Chavez Wannabee!! Pfft!!

Obama & Chavez. Two birds of a feather…
