It’s crisis time for the Giants — and everyone’s to blame

GREEN BAY — The Good Ship Coughlin is sinking in this blizzard of ineptitude at the worst possible time. The disintegration of the Giants is stunning and it is inexcusable, and it didn’t only leave them stranded in Appleton, Wisc., last night because of the storm back home. It left them stranded on Crisis Island, clueless and shaken and shell-shocked, far from the playoff shores.

“They played harder than we did,” a devastated Justin Tuck said. “It’s a sick feeling in my stomach to be able to say that, considering what we had at stake.”

The Giants, disgraceful 45-17 losers, put the L-A-M-B in Lambeau last night. With so much at stake, it was the Packers who showed up as Lambeau Leapers. The Giants showed up as Lambeau Lepers.

The Packers, fighting for their playoff lives, wanted the game more. And so the Giants, who suddenly need help, have no one to blame but themselves.

Packbreaker.

Because over the past 68 minutes, they have looked nothing like a team that deserves a berth in the playoffs. They couldn’t, and, more damning, wouldn’t, run the ball.

They couldn’t get anywhere near Aaron Rodgers, who resembled the young Brett Favre, minus the interceptions. Rodgers threw for 404 yards with four TDs. Eli Manning, meanwhile, threw four more interceptions on a day the Turnover Kings of East Rutherford coughed it up six times.
