Meet Gia Mantegna, Miss Golden Globe, and her predecessors [SLIDESHOW]

While watching the Golden Globes Sunday evening, we noticed a very pretty young girl who seemed to be running things on the stage — escorting the nominees around, doling out the awards and gently prying winners away from the mic when their time was up. Silly us for not knowing instantly: it was Miss Golden Globe 2011, Gia Mantegna.

The 20-year-old daughter of Emmy-nominated actor Joe Mantegna, Gia joins a long list of daughters and sons (debutantes, of sorts) selected by the Hollywood Foreign Press Association to assist on stage during the awards. Also like many of her predecessors, Gia is an aspiring actress who has appeared in ’13 Going on 30′ and ‘The Secret Life of the American Teenager’ on ABC Family. Will she, as Melanie Griffith did, go on to win a Golden Globe herself? Only time will tell.
