Newt Gingrich tells Georgia Republicans he’ll be a candidate in 2012

In the last 24 hours, former U.S. House speaker Newt Gingrich has touched base with several prominent Republicans in his former home state, telling them that he intends to make a run for president in 2012 using Georgia as his base – and that he already has his eye on office space in Buckhead for a campaign headquarters.

Gingrich met on Thursday with Nathan Deal, whom Gingrich endorsed during a critical phase of last year’s Republican primary for governor.

House Speaker David Ralston introduced Gingrich Thursday night at a downtown Atlanta affair hosted by the Paulding County Chamber of Commerce.

Newt, you lost my confidence when you appeared in the global warming commercial with Nancy Pelosi two years ago. What were you thinking?

Insider! He doesn’t stand a chance.

All the flaky RINO’s are coming out of the woodwork, in a month or so there will be about 15 to 20 looking for the nomination. I’m getting tired of voting for the lesser of the evils, why can’t we nominate a good strong conserative that the American people can get behind and support. What we have been having is the establishment Republicans give us a progressive candidate that the grassroots Republicans will not vote for, they stay home and the Democrat wins. Newt falls under the label of progressive (RINO).

    GO AWAY NEWT!!!!!

Excuse me. Uh, excuse me, please. Mr. Gingrich? Uh, Mr. Gingrich, excuse me. Excuse me, Mr. Gingrich, but I have to ask. Have you forgotten that we already know the depth of your moral character and sense of committment (especially to wives, including sick ones)? There are those who do no think that ethics and values are relative to the job, I know (Monica, Mary Jo, Operation Northwoods, etc.) but I, and countless others, do.

The past dismal performance of the GOP with you at the forefront was less than impressive. You are intelligent but lack integrity and strong moral fiber. The country has had enough of that, don’t you think? It’s time for real conservatism and a return to the Constitution. Please get out of the way, lest you embarrass yourself or detract attention from a candidate that has something to offer besides the recycyled status quo.
