Adelle Davis rose to fame as a diet expert in the 1960s and 1970s. Her book, ‘Let’s Eat Right’ sold ten million copies. Her work promoted unprocessed foods and criticized the U.S. food industry. She promoted a belief that by drinking a quart of milk a day, one could avoid cancer. Her hypothesis proved false when she died of bone cancer at the age of 70.
