Motorola has posted what some say is a ‘teaser’ ad for their highly anticipated Xoom tablet on Youtube.  The starts with the tagline, ‘2011 looks a lot like 1984,’ and closes with ‘it’s time to live a free life,’ mocking Apple’s famous 1984 Super Bowl ad. The full commercial is expected to premiere at next week’s Super Bowl.

The Xoom tablet was unveiled earlier this month at the Consumer Electronics Show in Las Vegas with a targeted first quarter release date. Motorola has launched aggressive marketing campaigns for their past Android devices, releasing theatrical-trailer like commercials, as they did for the Droid X smartphone this past Summer.  Popular tech blog Engadget believes the Motorola ad may simply be a preview for the theme of Motorola’s actual Super Bowl commercial.

The Xoom will be the first Android device to feature Honeycomb, Android’s first tablet-designed operating system.  Google will be holding a Honeycomb press event on Wednesday, February 2, where the company is expected to announce additional features and give the press hands-on demoes.
