There has been something of a media fascination with New Jersey Republican Gov. Chris Christie, but is it an obsession? Not according to the governor himself.

In an appearance on the Fox News Channel’s “Your World,” host Neil Cavuto asked Christie about the media and what he perceived to be an obsession.

“I don’t know if it is an obsession but an interest, in the fact that I say things very plainly. I think more than anything else it is based on the way I say things and the things we have accomplished so far,” Christie said. “We have some really concrete accomplishments – 9 percent decrease in state spending –real dollar-over-dollar, year-over-year state spending, cap on property taxes, you know vetoing a large income tax increase, cutting corporate business taxes all in one year. I think people see you are doing things to this economy. They’re intrigued by that and listen, I have a plain way of speaking and I think that people like for once to listen to a politician who doesn’t fog them over when they are talking but just says it very plainly and sometimes it could get me in trouble but i am happy to live with the upside.”

Cavuto then asked Christie why he “wastes” his time appearing on MSNBC, which has a number of left-of-center hosts.

“Everyone deserves to hear from governors across the country, no matter which network you work on,” he explained. “I love being on Fox. I love being with you but I love going on MSNBC every once in a while.”
