While millions of Americans continue to struggle to find work, tighten their belts during tough economic times and fight to defend their right to keep the best health care system in the world from being taken over by the government, President Obama continues his pursuit of a disastrous foreign policy agenda.
Strategically important allies, such as Poland and the Czech Republic, have experienced firsthand the “change” brought to our country by the election of Barack Obama. The United States, whose democracy inspired these two former communist countries to achieve their freedom from the former Soviet Union after decades of suffering, not long ago removed its vital support and is now pushing these young democracies back into the sphere of the Russian Federation, a new name for the same old totalitarian USSR.
Meanwhile, in our own backyard, another strategic ally, Honduras, suffered from the same “change” in our foreign policy. After avoiding one more Hugo Chavez-like coup d’etat in Latin America by using the country’s constitution to remove the dictator-to-be, Honduras was punished by the Obama administration for having had the audacity to reject the institution of the Chavez model of “democracy” in its free society. In addition to not recognizing the new and constitutional government, the administration initially stated that it would not recognize the results of the election that was held to elect the new president of Honduras.
While this was going on, the Obama administration was eager to immediately recognize the election of Ahmadinejad in Iran, despite the evidence of fraud and brutal suppression by the Iranian Revolutionary guard against freedom-craving Iranians who went out on the street to protest.
If Americans remain in denial of what is happening, then perhaps the administration’s decision to turn its back on our long-time ally Israel should finally do the trick.
Ahmadinejad’s denial of the Holocaust and daily threat to “pulverize” Israel should be enough evidence for this administration to stop courting this terrorist state and to stand up and defend Israel, our main ally in the Middle East and one of our closest allies in the entire world.
As if Obama’s misguided foreign policy of the last two years were not enough, America’s weakness and inaction during recent events in the Middle East/North Africa are actually aiding in the chaos reigning throughout that region. While unrest in the region spreads, the master of doing nothing goes golfing for the 60th time since becoming president and the American media continue to give him a pass by making him seem like the most humanitarian president we have ever had. It is almost comical to think that the only superpower in the world sent in a ferry to rescue American citizens from Libya, while the Brits sent their special forces on military airplanes to help rescue their trapped citizens. But what really makes no sense is the fact that in the midst of all this, President Obama’s ratings are still high! When are Americans going to wake up? Is it going to take $5 or $6 per gallon gas prices, out-of-control inflation and a shortage of food before people start seeing this man for who he truly is? Where is the outrage of the American people?
Following the foreign policy pattern dictated by the Obama administration, we can only anticipate other major diplomatic aberrations against the nation’s best interests. Therefore, it shouldn’t come as a surprise to anybody when we turn Colombia over to Hugo Chavez and his puppets on a silver platter.
