“Georgetown,” the upcoming ABC drama that aims to be a “primetime soap about young people behind the power brokers of D.C.”, won’t actually be filmed in the District, reports DCist.

According to a reader-submitted letter obtained by DCist, Bonanza Productions, Inc. is in pre-production of the pilot episode of “Georgetown”, a series about four young people living and working in Washington. The show, which will be filmed primarily in New York, is being produced by the same developers behind television dramas “The O.C.” and “Gossip Girl.” Many speculate “Georgetown” will be the east coast version of “The O.C.”, an old Fox drama that followed the lives of wealthy, troubled southern California high school students.

Will Fetters, who wrote the 2010 drama, “Remember Me,” will pen the “Georgetown” script. “Gossip Girl” actress Katie Cassidy is slated to star in the new program.

According to a Feb. report by Deadline, “Georgetown” was initially going to be titled “The Inner Circle.”

The Internet Movie Database also states that the filming takes place in New York.
