Former presidential candidate Al Gore has signed on with Random House to write a book on politics and current events, following his 2006 work, “An Inconvenient Truth.”

The Current TV chairman’s next book will be about “the political, social and economic forces that are shaping what America and the world will become in ensuing decade,” according to a Random House release.

Gore says he hopes this book will begin a dialogue about people who make real changes in the world.

“With this new work, I hope to help start a conversation about the large-scale drivers of change that are defining and shaping our future — from the rapid development and integration of radically new technologies to the planet-changing impact of the climate crisis, to poverty, globalization and the democratization of knowledge accompanying the emergence of a ubiquitous Internet linking ever more intelligent devices,” Gore said.

“No one has done more to raise global awareness about climate change,” said Jon Meacham, Random House executive vice president. “From social media to political extremism, Gore is turning his attention to an even broader array of issues. He has always discerned trends and truths before much of the rest of the world.”
