ABC’s upcoming drama, “Georgetown” has cast “Gossip Girl” heartthrob Kevin Zegers for one of its leading roles, making him the fourth “Gossip Girl” veteran to join the new show.

Zegers, who has appeared in popular films such as “Dawn of the Dead” and “The Jane Austen Book Club,” will work alongside actor James Wolk and fellow “Gossip Girl” co-star Katie Cassidy in “Georgetown”, reports Deadline.

DCist reported Monday that “Georgetown,” a primetime soap that follows the lives of young D.C. workers, will be filmed in New York rather than the District. According to Deadline, the show will be centered on Wolk’s character, who is a charming Yale graduate and the youngest Presidential speech-writer in history. Zegers will portray a wealthy, attractive stockbroker from a well-connected family. Zegers and Wolk are enemies in the television drama, and Zegers’ character proposes to a former girlfriend of Wolk’s.

Will Fetters, who penned the 2010 movie, “Remember Me,” will write the “Georgetown” script. According to a Feb. report by Deadline, “Georgetown” was initially going to be titled “The Inner Circle.”

“Georgetown” director Mark Piznarski directed “Gossip Girl” from 2007 to 2010. “Gossip Girl” executive producer Josh Schwartz is also a “Georgetown” creator. “Gossip Girl,” which is currently in its fourth season, tells the story of privileged New York City students.
