Ed Harris will portray former Republican presidential candidate John McCain for HBO’s upcoming film “Game Change”, which is based on the 2008 presidential election.

As announced earlier this month, “The Kids Are All Right” actress Julianne Moore will play former vice presidential candidate Sarah Palin.

This will be Harris’ second film with Moore, having starred alongside her in “The Hours”. An acting veteran, Harris has appeared in renowned films such as “A Beautiful Mind” and “Apollo 13”.

“Game Change”, which will be filmed in Maryland, follows McCain’s campaign, from his selection of Palin to be his running mate to their losing the general election. The made-for-TV movie is an adaptation of Mark Halperin and John Heilemann’s book about the 2008 election. “Game Change” will be directed by Jay Roach and written by Danny Strong.

When Fox host Sean Hannity asked Palin for her thoughts on “Game Change” earlier this month, she responded, “I think I’ll just grit my teeth and bear whatever comes what may with that movie…Well, I am all about job creation, and I guess I could provide some of these gals who pretend like they’re me some job security. I would ask, though, that — if they’re of the mind of spreading the wealth around — that perhaps they want to spring for one of my kid’s braces or something as they capitalize on pretending to be me.”
