House to vote on one-week stopgap that cuts $12B in spending

The House will likely vote Thursday on a bill extending federal funding for one week while cutting $12 billion in spending, GOP lawmakers said after a conference meeting Wednesday.

Democrats and the White House are opposed to the measure, which would also fund the Pentagon through September, the end of fiscal year 2011.

Appropriations Chairman Hal Rogers (R-Ky.) predicted that the House would vote on the measure on Thursday or Friday.
