That’s the name of Michael Moore’s next masterpiece, coming soon to a DVD remainder bin near you.

Let’s back up: On Tuesday, Wisconsin held an election for their state Supreme Court, with sitting Justice David Prosser up against Assistant Attorney General JoAnne Kloppenburg. As votes were tallied, it looked incredibly close. A few hundred votes this way, then a couple hundred votes the other way, a few dozen this way, and so on. As the Milwaukee Journal Sentinel explains:

The razor-thin result was the latest twist in Wisconsin’s ongoing political turmoil. The state has drawn the attention of the nation in recent weeks because of the fight over collective bargaining, which caused massive weeks-long protests in the Capitol, a boycott of the Senate by Democrats and attempts to recall senators from both parties.

Interest groups on both sides had portrayed the election as a referendum on Gov. Scott Walker’s agenda and particularly on a controversial law sharply restricting public employee unions. Conservatives backed Prosser, and liberals supported Kloppenburg, even though the candidates themselves insisted they were politically neutral.

Initially, it looked like Kloppenburg eked out a narrow win, and she was all too eager to declare victory:

Katrina vandenHeuvel summed up the consensus among the Professional Left:

That’s where it stood as of yesterday. Then it got awesome.

Take it away, Hammer:

Incumbent David Prosser took a commanding lead in the Wisconsin Supreme Court race Thursday as the Waukesha County clerk announced that some 14,000 votes from the city of Brookfield were not counted due to user error in saving the results spreadsheet.

“This is not a case of extra votes being found. This was human error, which I apologize for,” said county clerk Kathy Nickolaus, adding that the canvass procedure is designed to catch such errors.

When asked about accusations of voter fraud, Nickolaus, who is a Republican, cited the canvassing process:

“I’m thankful that the error was found early in the process,” she said. “Anyone who sat in on that canvass could see what we are doing.”

Democratic canvass watcher Ramona Kitzinger was also at the press conference.

“We went over everything & made sure the numbers jibed up and they did,” Kitzinger said. “We’re satisfied that it’s correct.”

You can watch the press conference here.

Keep in mind, this isn’t a matter of finding ballots, like when Senator Stuart Smalley “won.” Nobody “found” them in the trunk of a car. These ballots were all there, but weren’t recorded properly. That won’t stop the conspiracy theories from the sore losers, of course, who only yesterday were scoffing at the very idea of voter fraud.

But it doesn’t matter if you win or lose. It’s how you gloat. And Michael Moore is glad to give us something to gloat about. Take it away, Mike!

So now, overnight, a local election in Wisconsin has gone from a national referendum on the superiority of leftism to “OMG BUSH STOLE THE ELECTION” all over again. Ha-ha. HA-ha!
