People braved the wind and chilly temps for a good cause in Kimberly Saturday.

More than 2,000 people turned out for the Friends of Autism sixth Annual Fox Cities Walk for Autism.

Organizers say the walk typically raises about 50 thousand dollars.

Much of the money raised stays in the Fox Valley.

The funds help families affected by autism pay for things like therapy items and social skills classes.

“Autism is on the rise, and so with more and more people understanding the effects of autism, and the need for more research, events like this help both promote autism awareness and help raise money for research which is very, very needed,” said volunteer Elizabeth Jones.
