Still no front-runner in the battle for the GOP nomination

A new national poll indicates the race for the Republican presidential nomination remains wide-open, with none of the probable or potential GOP White House contenders above 20 percent, according to a new national poll.

The CNN/Opinion Research Corporation survey’s Thursday release comes hours before the first Republican presidential debate of the 2012 election cycle.

Who does best against Obama? Paul. The congressman from Texas, who also ran as a libertarian candidate for president in 1988 and who is well liked by many in the tea party movement, trails the president by only seven points (52 to 45 percent) in a hypothetical general election showdown. Huckabee trails by eight points, with Romney down 11 points to Obama.

The poll indicates the president leading Gingrich by 17 points, Palin by 19, and Trump by 22 points.

I like Ron, but he doesn’t stand a snowball’s chance in he11 of getting elected. Now Herman Cain? Another story. If he runs, he will probably get my vote!

I like Ron Paul (with Jesse Ventura as running mate), but the questions here are valid.

But it was a CNN poll… The results should come from a serious source, like, uh, the New York Times…no…CBS…no…MSNBC…definitely no…uh…

The GOP will shoot themselves in the foot by not allowing Romney to be the nominee – because of Romneycare and being a Mormon, which the Bible-banging hypocrites on the far Right will never tolerate – or Ron Paul, whose stance on US support of the nasty Israeli terrorists, and other ideas that buck the traditional GOP positions dooms him. They’ll end up running Daniels or Pawlenty, and it will be a landslide for our fine, noble President Obama. 4 more years of cleaning up Dumbya’s train wreck.

Yeah, tripling the debt, almost doubling unemployment (with no end in sight), higher energy costs, inflation and more wars. Obama really is “cleaning up” that mess, isn’t he?

Gotta love his complete compliance with Bush on Gitmo, the Patriot Act, warrantless wire-tapping and killing terrorists though. It’s got to be the single funniest thing I’ve ever seen to watch Liberals try to spin those policy decisions.

Fox seemed bent on throwing a few rocks at the Republicans who did not attend last night and a few south Carolinians also made similar comments. In mind, it doesn’t matter. My feelings were not hurt which is what appeared to be the case with the Tarheels and Fox. We will be hearing from the front runners soon enough. But to be sure, Cain has to be taken seriously now. Paul remains just an amusement.
