Television anchor Katie Couric says billionaire Donald Trump demonstrated out-of-this-world behavior during his puzzling dip into politics.

Couric, who is launching a daytime talk program with ABC News, appeared on the “Tonight Show” on Monday to chat about New York Rep. Anthony Weiner’s Twitter picture scandal and Trump, among other things.

“Because I live in New York and I’ve seen Donald at various events, he actually can be a very nice person with a good heart, but I think he was just acting like a jackass for a while,” Couric said. “It’s as if he was abducted by aliens temporarily. He was just acting so strangely.”

Former Alaska Gov. Sarah Palin, who met up with Trump last week for lunch in New York City, was also a topic of discussion. Leno and Couric talked about the former “CBS Evening News” host’s awkward 2008 Palin interview, where the two clashed and had several uncomfortable exchanges.

When asked if Couric and Palin had conversed since the sit-down, Couric said, “No.”

After saying she was still skeptical of Palin’s political career, Couric joked, “Maybe a Palin/Trump ticket? What do you think about that? That would keep people interested.”
