Breaking from the NYT:
Representative Anthony D. Weiner has told friends that he plans to resign his seat after coming under growing pressure from his Democratic colleagues to leave the House, said a person told of Mr. Weiner’s plans.
And according to Matt Lewis:
NBC’s Luke Russert has reported that Weiner’s staffers and interns have left Weiner’s Washington offices, carrying boxes and locking the doors behind them.
Oh well. It was fun while it lasted.
Update: Why the change of heart?
Mr. Weiner, a Democrat, came to the conclusion that he could no longer serve after having long discussions with his wife, Huma Abedin, when she returned home on Tuesday after traveling abroad with her boss, Secretary of State Hillary Rodham Clinton.
I haven’t seen any pictures of him today, so I’m not sure how he’s covering the rolling pin-shaped dent in his head.
Update: It seems worthwhile to look back, just two short weeks.
He lied. He implicated his defenders in the lie. Then Andrew Breitbart proved it was a lie. Hey, that must be why we haven’t heard Breitbart’s name much in the news this past week. It wouldn’t do to admit that he was right and they were wrong.
