Weiner campaign signs are becoming a must-have collector’s items in Nashville, Tennessee. The signs, however, do not belong to the allegedly sex-addicted New York congressman.

City council candidate Sheri Weiner is suffering the first wave of electoral fallout from “Weinergate.”

Currently in the final stretch of campaigning ahead of the August 4 election, Weiner’s signs are flying off lawns and would-be voters are closely questioning her about her relation to the congressman.

“I’m pretty stunned that anybody would take as many signs as they did,” Weiner told Nashville’s WTVF-TV. “I did anticipate that some would go, and that’s ok. You know, that’s part of the game.”

The candidate notified police after a large sign overlooking a highway was defaced. Twenty smaller signs, costing $3.20 each, were stolen.

Weiner said that she was so repulsed by the congressman’s behavior that she didn’t follow news coverage of the scandal. Regardless, going door-to-door to solicit her neighbors for support prompts questioning.

“I would hope that the name does not dredge up any negative connotation,” Weiner said.
