Earlier this week, embattled New York Democratic Rep. Anthony Weiner announced his resignation from the House of Representatives. With the resignation, a rich source for comedy writers also exited the public square.

On the “Red Eye” episode that aired on Fox News Channel early Saturday morning, host Greg Gutfeld gave some thoughts on the departure of Weiner during his “Gregalogue” segment.

“Well, it is day one of the post-Weiner era,” Gutfeld said. “I don’t know about you, but I already miss the little guy. His bobbing Adam’s apple, his oversized collars, his fecklessly shaved genitalia – the last three weeks he made life worth living. But like a feverish dream he is gone. I don’t know about you, but I need a fond look back.”

Gutfeld encouraged Weiner to make a comeback.

“You will be missed, Commander Crotch Shot,” Gutfeld said.  “So, what do we do next, ‘Red Eye’ fans? Where do we go from here? Which is the way that is clear? What about the puns we planned on using based on your member? How can we do this A-block without your face? So I ask you Anthony only to take a break then come back refreshed and run again because we need you – for comic value, for comforting gossip and to make us feel better about ourselves. I know my faults seem less faulty after discovering Weiner. I haven’t thought about my embarrassing birthmark in weeks. So God speed, Weiner. And the next time somebody says ‘take a picture, it will last longer,’ ignore it. And if you disagree with me, I was obviously hacked.”
