Human Rights Watch calls for Obama to prosecute Bush

Human Rights Watch is pressuring President Barack Obama to investigate and criminally prosecute former President George W. Bush and former Vice President Dick Cheney.

The group says there is “overwhelming evidence” that the Bush administration ordered the torture and abuse of various detainees. Its allegations are contained in a 107-page report.

“There are solid grounds to investigate Bush, Cheney, [Donald] Rumsfeld, and [CIA Director George] Tenet for authorizing torture and war crimes,” Human Rights Watch executive director Kenneth Roth wrote in a press release. “President Obama has treated torture as an unfortunate policy choice rather than a crime.”

The report asks other countries to prosecute Bush and several of his top aides (if the United States does not take legal action) for violating international law.

“The U.S. has a legal obligation to investigate these crimes,” Roth wrote in the statement. “If the U.S. doesn’t act on them, other countries should.”

The report also discredits the Bush administration’s consultations with legal counsel over the permissibility of waterboarding and illegal detention, arguing that such precautions don’t lessen the severity of the crime. (McConnell: Give Obama new powers on debt limit)

The Human Rights Watch report comes after the Department of Justice ended a two-year review of the CIA on June 30. The DOJ analyzed the treatment of more than 100 foreign detainees, leading to a criminal investigation of the deaths of two detained terror suspects. The Human Rights Watch report called the investigations “insufficient.”

Human Rights Watch says its mission is to protect “the human rights of people around the world,” but in doing so the group has attracted a number of critics.

In 2009, the retired founder of Human Rights Watch openly chastised the group’s unfair condemnations of Israel and questioned its current direction.

So Human Rights Watch group wants to indict Bush and Cheney. What are they doing about Afghanistan, Iraq, Alqaeda and their soldiers and their people and what they did to our military men and women, the American newsmen like Daniel Pearl with torture, beheading, and prisoners? American did not start that war the Muslim extremist who hijacked our planes and flew them into the World Trade Center Towers, the Pentagon, and bless those brave men and women on the flight that crashed in Pennsylvania to keep it from being flown into another building. Do they really think that Bush and Cheney wanted anything like this to happen during their term in office? If Human Rights Watch really wanted to do something great start finding about how many human rights violations there are against Mahmoud Ahmadinejad, Anjen Choudary, Hugo Chavez, and President Ali Bongo of Gabon.

God bless Human Rights Watch. At Nuremberg, Nazis were hung for doing many things done by Bush/Cheney & Company. Seriously….look it up. Check out the trials, the charges, the convictions. And for covering up the Bush/Cheney & Company war crimes, and committing his own war crimes, President Obama should be impeached/convicted and then tried and convicted for his war crimes.

When will Human Rights Watch go after the pirates savagely killing people off the Ivory Coast? When will they demand prosecution for the inhuman treatment of people in Saudi Arabia and every other Mussie country? Or how about the slave trade going on this very minute on the African Continent and in Russia? Do they care about the horrendous murders by drug lords in Mexico?

I get it….they are only after America. Wait, that can’t be it entirely or they would have to go after Clinton for Somalia and Kosovo.

The article also begs the question, just exactly where did they obtain this “overwhelming evidence”? As far as I am concerned, this idiotic group can ef off since all they do is conduct witch hunts.

Do the Liberal Lefty’s REALLY want to go down this road???? I suggest they slink back to their slim covered caves and keep quiet, before they get the stink stirred up enough that WE THE PEOPLE decide to hand over Burrack Hussain Muhammed for the Direct cause of thousands of Mexican Nationals deaths at the hands of the Drug Cartels that this administration provided over 2,500 weapons to. WEapons originally sold against the protests of Lawful Gun Dealers by threat from members of the BATFE DIRECTED by ERic Holder with knowledge of Sec. of State Hilarity Clinton and Pres. Mubaric O’Bama. WEapons sold with the intent of this administration to accuse US SPORTSMEN & WOMEN to ‘curb’ private ownership of weapons in th eUS Just like the SOcialist Nations of Euro…..

Boy oh boy, did you ever hit the nail on the head terryatrae. That is about as accurate a summation of that mess as I have read. And NO, the lefties really don’t want to down that road. Unless they want hell to pay.

Holder and Obamao should be impeached for numerous acts of treason and malfeasance of office.

  • bobdog

No, George Bush has been declared “icky” and must be prosecuted.

Trouble is, they’re going to have to indict half the Justice Department and most of Congress.

How many thousands of victims were “tortured” again? I mean, not counting the thousands of military who got teargassed and waterboarded as a routine part of survival training. I think it was three people, including KSM, who spilled his guts after about three minutes of legally approved waterboarding. That included tidbits that ultimately led to the death of bin Laden and countless other unpleasant people.

Man, those guys at Hummin’ Right just can’t take a joke, can they?

Pretty funny. Is today April 1st?

Human Rights might want to prosecute Obama for kicking the can down the road so often. After all, cans have feelings too.

    Get bent, you fascists.

‘Human Rights’” Watch is just another Marxist front group. Who gives two shts what a pack of Marxist freaks wants? They have as much credibility as Al Sharpton.

If anybody should be prosecuted it should be the lying ignoramus in the White House.
