Former Bay State Gov. Mitt Romney shelled out more than $5 million in campaign cash over the past three months, including blowing $80,000 on hotel rooms in Las Vegas, $50,000 on a security squad and $125,000 on private jets — despite a pledge to scale back on luxury travel, new campaign filings show.

News of the flights comes after an April speech in Iowa, during which Romney said his 2012 campaign would be more frugal than his 2008 operation, especially on private jet use.
