As TheDC’s Jonathan Strong noted earlier, Republican Study Committee chairman Jim Jordan “apologized to members at a closed-door meeting because a junior RSC staffer, Wesley Goodman, earlier this week sent an email to conservative outside groups identifying which members were undecided on how they will vote on Boehner’s debt ceiling legislation.” RSC executive director Paul Teller also reportedly sent an email.

But now conservative icon Richard Viguerie has weighed in, defending the young staffers.

His letter to Rep. Jordan is below:

The Honorable Jim Jordan
Chairman
House Republican Study Committee
U.S. House of Representatives
Washington, D.C. 20515

Dear Congressman Jordan:

I’d like to voice my strong support for Paul Teller and Wesley Goodman.

My staff and I have had a lot of contact with them.  They have been extremely helpful in keeping us informed of key issues and activities of interest to the members of the House Study Committee (RSC).

Paul and Wesley have been valuable players in advancing the goals of the RSC.

While everyone makes an occasional mistake, I believe their overall job performances have been outstanding.  They are a major credit to you and the RSC.

I urge you to continue to utilize their talents to benefit the conservative cause.

Cordially,

Richard A. Viguerie
