Because nothing eases tensions and brings people together quite like claiming your opponents are assassins.
And the libs cry: “But he was speaking metaphorically!” That’s not what you said about Palin and “Don’t retreat, reload.” That’s not what you said about her Magical Voodoo Map that supposedly made Jared Lee Loughner go crazy and shoot a bunch of people. That’s not what you said when Michele Bachmann talked about making sure people were “armed and dangerous (with information on energy taxes).” You claimed all that stuff, and more, was toxic hate speech.
Funny how it’s only “violent rhetoric” when liberals think they can use it politically against conservatives.
In other Lefty Projection News, Harry Reid thinks Tea Partiers aren’t real Americans, and Ed Schultz thinks John Boehner is a drunk. If you want to know what’s in these guys’ hearts, just listen to what they say about their opponents. Especially when they’re backed into a corner. Whoops, is that “violent rhetoric”?

P.S. This double standard is so much fun, here’s yet another example. Ben Smith of Politico — a liberal publication based in suburban Virginia — is reporting:
The Navy Times (no link) reported last week that Navy Secretary Ray Mabus stripped the Silver Star from a Vietnam swift boat veteran, Capt. Wade Sanders:
“Had the subsequently determined facts and evidence surrounding both the incident for which the award was made and the processing of the award itself been known to the Secretary of the Navy in 1992, those facts would have prevented the award of the Silver Star,” [Mabus spokeswoman Pamela] Kunze said.
Sanders is now in jail on child pornography charges. But he’s best known as the man who introduced John Kerry at the 2004 Democratic National Convention, and, ironically, vouched for the authenticity of Kerry’s service.
As Thomas Lifson at the American Thinker points out: “During the 2004 campaign, Sanders functioned as Kerry’s lead attack dog against the Swift Boat Veterans for Truth, repeatedly denouncing the veterans on the air as liars and comparing them to Nazi propagandists.” So John Kerry’s biggest defender against those evil Swiftboaters has been stripped of the medal that gave him credibility, and is now in jail for kiddie porn. If you’re wondering why this isn’t a bigger news story, obviously you’ve forgotten that Kerry is a Democrat.
