Playboy Playmate Shanna Marie McLaughlin was arrested Monday after the 26-year-old tried to enter the Orlando International Airport security checkpoint with a Ruger SAA .45 Colt revolver in her duffel bag. The handgun was loaded with hollow-point ammunition.
McLaughlin, who was Playboy’s Miss July 2010, reportedly put her belongings into an X-ray machine and a Transportation Security Administration employee “saw what appeared to be a handgun on the screen,” according to WKMG-TV6. The Florida native told the TSA agent that she had a concealed weapons permit, which he reportedly verified. (RELATED: TSA blocks private airport screeners)
According to an arrest affidavit, the blondie attested that the weapon belonged to her boyfriend and “she did not know it was in there.”
Nevertheless, cops arrested the 26-year-old and charged her with the misdemeanor of carrying a firearm in a place forbidden by law. After posing for her teary-eyed mugshot, McLaughlin reportedly posted bond of $250.
Born in West Palm Beach, McLaughlin gained notoriety last year for being filmed and photographed in her underwear in a University of Central Florida locker room. The institution of higher education was quick to apologize for the racy, sexually charged magazine shoot.
“An employee without proper authorization allowed access to our football locker room. By the time the video of the shoot was brought to our attention, it had already made its rounds via the internet,” UCF associate athletic director Joe Hornstein wrote in a statement to the Orlando Sentinel.
