“Laguna Beach” cast member Kristin Cavallari has joined “Friends with Benefits” stars Mila Kunis and Justin Timberlake in accepting an invitation to a Marine Corps Ball.

On Thursday, U.S. Marine Lance Corporal Jonathan Burkett got online to invite the 24-year-old California girl to the fall formal event, tweeting at the actress: “Wanted to know if you want to go the the Marine Corps Ball with me in San Diego?! Would make a video but still deployed!”

The military man also tweeted that the celebrity’s buddies could tag along. “Could have your friends come too and all go out in San Diego. Figured it would be a good time and its close by!”

Later that day Cavallari tweeted back at Burkett, “Would love to! When is it?” (RELATED PHOTOS: Celebrities invited to the Marine Corps Ball )

TMZ reported Friday that Cavallari’s reps are in the process of organizing her Marine Corps Ball plans.

The upcoming affair could take newly single Cavallari’s mind off her broken engagement to Chicago Bears quarterback Jay Cutler. Last month, People magazine reported that the couple of ten months had called off their plans to marry.

“She got dumped,” a source told the publication. “She’s absolutely devastated. She can’t believe this is happening.”

In July, Ukrainian beauty Mila Kunis confirmed she would attend a Marine Corps Birthday Ball. Around the same time, singer Justin Timberlake said he would make an appearance at one of the balls. Then “Terminator” actress Linda Hamilton posted a YouTube video begging Sgt. Ray Lewis to take her to the event in place of “Golden Girls” actress Betty White, who could not accept the invitation.

At the end of the month, 26-year-old “He’s Just Not That into You” sexpot Scarlett Johnasson declined her invite to the ball but sent a case of champagne to Sgt. Dustin L. Williams along with her regrets.

I love the fact that while many of the older celebs won’t give our soldiers the time of day, the younger ones seem to appreciate our men and women in uniform enough to take time out of their schedules to meet with them. I doubt those who will be attending the ball with our fine young Marines will leave the event unchanged. They will be introduced to an entirely foreign to them world in which honor, respect, duty, and self sacrifice are not simply words on a script but a way of life. I’ve never been to a Marine Corps Birthday ball, but know Marines who have been out for 10 years who once a year squeeze into their old uniforms to attend. I have been to military balls and black tie charity balls. There is a definite difference between the two. You might be able to get into a charity ball by writing a check on your bank account, you don’t get into a military one without writing a check that you have to be willing to cover with your life, or be invited by someone who has. I hope these celebrities understand and appreciate the difference. These young (and not so young) men are writing the checks that make the celebrities’ lifestyles possible. To paraphrase a great writer whose name I can’t recall, they sleep soundly in their beds because rough men stand ready to visit violence on those who would do them harm.

This is awesome, I would like to thank all the “celebrities” for taking their time out to attend the Marine Corps Ball with the true heroes and heroines of this great country.

What a great recruiting tool for the Marines. If I wasn’t sixty five I might sign up.

Sweet! Never seen the series but might have to. Jay Cutler? Poor dear, the guy is a creep.

Haha creeps are a dime a dozen! Hopefully Ms. Cavallari will pick better next time. Maybe the marine will be a great change of pace here.
